Matt Downie, MBE – Director of Policy and External Affairs, Crisis

As Director of Policy and External Affairs for Crisis, Matt has led award winning teams at Action for Children and the National Autistic Society and Crisis. Political successes include the Autism Act 2009, stopping the extradition of Gary McKinnon to the US on charges of computer hacking, establishing a multi-million pound Government savings scheme for children in care, and the introduction of a new criminal offence of psychological child abuse. Most recently he led a campaign to achieve the Homelessness Reduction Act which came into force in 2018. Matt was awarded at MBE in the 2019 Queen’s birthdays honours, for ‘Services to tackling homelessness’. For more information about Crisis: www.crisis.org.uk 

Tim Richter – Founder, President & CEO, Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH)

Under Tim’s leadership, the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH) has shaped federal, provincial and local homelessness action and policy including the national implementation of Housing First, the National Housing Strategy and Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy; hosted seven highly successful National Conferences on Ending Homelessness; launched a national Training and Technical Assistance program; led the 20,000 Homes Campaign – a national movement of communities that housed over 21,000 of Canada’s most vulnerable homeless people in under four years; and, launched Built for Zero Canada – a national change effort helping a core group of leading communities end chronic and veteran homelessness – a first step on the path to eliminating all homelessness in Canada. For more information about the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness: www.caeh.ca
