Event date: -

Event type: Single day (a day or less)

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many groups of people including the Indigenous community over the last few months. Register for a discussion on the impact of the pandemic on Indigenous populations, how health systems are responding, and learn what actions have been effective–or fruitless–in the provincial and local responses across the country.

Dr. Evan Adams and Dr. Lisa Richardson, will also touch upon the historical and present-day impacts of colonial experiences on Indigenous populations and provide practical tools for providing care or support to Indigenous populations.

Look forward to discussions on:

  • Current issues and impact of COVID-19 on Indigenous populations, and what responses have been helpful;
  • Understanding current public and population health management, policies, and challenges;
  • Application of culturally safe practices in care settings and the building of trust amongst stakeholders;
  • The need for culturally-safe guidance–e.g. expanding testing, community outreach, data gathering and governance, and public health enforcement–in the context of COVID-19.
