About this webinar
Youth bipolar disorder is a complicated and frequently misunderstood condition. Multiple factors contribute to the complexity of bipolar disorder in youth, including co-occurring psychiatric illnesses, developmental considerations during adolescence, and stigma toward youth and toward bipolar disorder.
This webinar is the first in a series, led by the Knowledge Mobilization team in the Provincial System Support Program at CAMH in collaboration with the Centre for Youth Bipolar Disorder (CYBD). The overarching goal of this series is to provide reliable and up-to-date information regarding youth bipolar disorder that is relevant to affected youth and their families. We seek to demystify and destigmatize youth bipolar disorder through this knowledge-sharing event.

- recognize the prevalence, characteristics and course of bipolar disorder in youth
- consider similarities and differences between bipolar disorder in youth versus adults
- understand key advances in knowledge from the past 20 years, and remaining gaps that need to be addressed.

About the presenter
 | Dr. Benjamin Goldstein is a child-adolescent psychiatrist and the director of CYBD. He is also a Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology at the University of Toronto and an Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed medical training at the University of Calgary, followed by residency training in general and child-adolescent psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Dr. Goldstein holds the RBC Investments Chair in Children’s Mental Health and Developmental Psychopathology at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. |

The Centre for Youth Bipolar Disorder is a fully integrated clinical-research program that seeks to generate discoveries that are uniquely relevant to youth with bipolar disorder. Our focus is on the full spectrum from biology (e.g., genetics, imaging) to clinical trials of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions. Evidence Exchange Network
The Knowledge Mobilization (KMb) team, which is part of the Provincial System Support Program at CAMH enables and supports KMb goals by providing expertise and mechanisms for effective integration and application of equitable-based KMb.
Our work centres on:
- Collaboration: we connect with partners to uncover new evidence and guide them through the KMb process
- Translation, transfer, exchange/mobilization: we translate evidence into accessible resources designed to inform system level change.
- Dissemination, increasing public and clinical awareness: We share these resources online and directly with relevant communities, service providers, and organizations.
We work closely with researchers, clinicians, policymakers, system planners, service providers, and people with lived experience to create resources which move the latest evidence to action.
