Webinar Series: Using the Stages of Change to Support Young People - Part One
Event date: -
Event type: Single day (a day or less)
Do you work with youth who are struggling to make changes in their lives?
Join us for this two-part interactive webinar series, which will walk you through the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change. Learn how you can apply this model to your practice to support youth to make difficult but necessary decisions in their lives.
Although developed to address substance use, the Model’s Stages of Change can be used to support youth in other areas of their lives. Once we know where a young person is at in the Stages of Change, we can meet them where they’re at.
Part One will explore:
- the Transtheoretical Model and its background;
- the research supporting its use;
- the first three concepts: Stages of Change, Decisional Balance, and Self-Efficacy.
This webinar series will be facilitated by YouthREX’s Vivian Oystrick, Youth Program Supports Manager at our Northern Hub, joined by youth workers sharing their experience in applying this model to their day-to-day practice, and what techniques can complement supporting behaviour change with youth.
This webinar is free but registration is required. (You can also register for part two of this series, on Wednesday, April 3rd, at the link below.)
Note: a recording of the webinar will be available (within 24 hours of the event) on the YouthREX website and on the eXchange.
