Hello everyone, I've just posted my first blog on cannabis addiction. I hope this adds to the conversation on this topic as I see very little quality discussions about it.

Accepting defeat to cannabis, usually considered a lightweight drug, can be humiliating. It’s akin to being the hare who loses a race to a turtle or to wetting your bed at your first sleepover. The two realities shouldn’t mix. When they do, a deep sense of shame is the natural response.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and continue this important conversation.

Thank you for sharing your personal journey. I am not a weed user however, my husband is and has been since he was a young teenager, he is now 60 years old. His reasoning is he uses it for pain, he doesn't take any over the counter or prescription medication. As you pointed out the list goes on. I see changes in him that he doesn't or he won't admit too. I am very frustrated with his usage. I see no change happening anytime in the future. He has more than once said he will smoke til he dies. I guess for me it is nice to hear that I am on the right track with my knowledge of what weed does to someone. My husband has even said no one has ever overdosed from weed. Guess that depends on what your definition of overdose is.

I would love to hear from others who are addicted to weed or living with someone who is.

Thanks again,

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience. To me it sounds like that's a difficult situation and there's no easy answer. I would suggest finding ways to focus on taking care of yourself and ensuring you don't get caught trying to convince him or something he's not ready to hear or be open to.

There's lots of good information for family members in similar situations, you might want to start checking out some of the alanon literature if you're keen to explore how you can help yourself.

Take care and be well.
