At 12:30 p.m. EST today Health Canada provided an update on the legalization and regulation of cannabis in Canada. The new legislation will make it legal to purchase edible cannabis, cannabis extracts and cannabis topicals for consumption this fall.

With this change in cannabis policy it is important to understand what these new products are, as well their use and effects. The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) has put together a primer to provide an overview of the new cannabis products and what you need to know at a glance. The primer is available on the CCSA website.

Stay tuned for more information from CCSA on how to minimize the health and safety risks associated with these soon-to-be-legal products.

How do you suspect this change in legislation could impact your work in mental health and addictions in Ontario?
