We've heard more this week to indicate that Covid-19 is impacting some groups in Ontario disproportionately and that demographic data collection is necessary to adequately address the disease. Coincidentally, the Black Experiences in Health Care Symposium 2020 in January highlighted the central role of demographic data collection in efforts to improve health equity in the province.

A report of the Symposium was recently published by the Black Health Alliance, Health Commons Solutions Lab, and Sinai Health. An executive summary is also available online (as well as attached).

The Black Experiences in Health Care Symposium 2020 brought together voices from Black communities, activists, health system leaders, and allies to focus on the theme of race-based data collection. Its aim was to work toward a more equitable health system for Black Ontarians.
