People under age 50 with hearing loss misuse prescription opioids at twice the rate of their hearing peers, and are also more likely to misuse alcohol and other drugs, a new national study finds. This means that health care providers may need to take special care when treating pain and mental health conditions in deaf and hard-of-hearing young adults, the researchers say.

According to the American Psychological Association, Generation Z (ages 15-21) reported the worst mental health. Additionally, stress was prevalent across all generations with Millennials (ages 22-37) reporting the highest overall, followed by Gen X (ages 38-53), and then Gen Z.

Toronto Police Service to limit sharing of mental health record information
Today, the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) announced that they are withdrawing their legal case against the Toronto Police Service (TPS). This comes as a result of new procedures that were developed by the TPS in collaboration with the IPC to restrict the disclosure of attempted suicide-related information to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
