McMaster University’s Department of Labour Studies and Political Science and Hamilton’s Roundtable for Poverty Reduction are conducting a survey that will map how COVID-19 has affected work, poverty, and access to government programs.
They are looking for Ontario residents 18 years or older and not retired. The confidential information gathered is intended for public bodies such as the Public Health Agency of Canada and Employment and Social Development Canada to assess community needs and implement appropriate supports during and after the pandemic.

Lack of equitable access to technology has been a long-standing issue for vulnerable community members in Thunder Bay, and the pandemic has greatly exacerbated this and a host of other pre-existing equity issues. I had a story/blog published on the Mighty yesterday, I speak reflectively through an experiential lens to the covid crisis on how it affects individuals living in the North who struggle with poverty, mental illness and food insecurity. FYI there is a small trigger warning on it. Very real talk about the crisis some individuals like myself are facing.
