Why it’s so Difficult to Accept You’re Addicted to Weed?

Hello everyone, I've just posted my first blog on cannabis addiction. I hope this adds to the conversation on this topic as I see very little quality discussions about it.

Accepting defeat to cannabis, usually considered a lightweight drug, can be humiliating. It’s akin to being the hare who loses a race to a turtle or to wetting your bed at your first sleepover. The two realities shouldn’t mix. When they do, a deep sense of shame is the natural response.

Do you find yourself getting caught up in the future or where you think you should be?

Would you alter your child's genes if it meant lower risk of psychiatric disorders?

In the largest-ever study of its kind, researchers identified more than 100 genetic variants that affect the risk for more than one mental health condition.

Last year, scientists edited the genes of babies to make them HIV resistant (the result of this "experiment" is still unknown). This led to outcries and stricter regulations.

'Hikikomori' is the term Japan uses to describe people who shut themselves off from society... but is this just a mental health issue that's disguised?

The Japanese government says there are roughly one million hikikomori, or people who have played no part in society for over six months, and who've locked themselves at home, away from the public.

Concussions in high school athletes may be a risk factor for suicide

Concussion, the most common form of traumatic brain injury, has been linked to an increased risk of depression and suicide in adults. Now new research suggests high school students with a history of sports-related concussions might be at an increased risk for suicide completion.

Does anyone know of an interactive (interpersonal) psychotherapy group in Scarborough or easy to reach from central Scarborough? It could be either a mixed group or a men's group.
