Every person will experience grief and loss – a profound sense of final separation from something or someone important. Grief is a normal and appropriate reaction to the death of a loved one, the experience of separation/divorce, intergenerational loss, or the loss of opportunity. CMHA Ontario has launched a new website offering free downloadable resources with strategies to deal with grief. Available at cmhabereavement.ca, the handouts include tips on coping with different kinds of loss, including grieving after suicide, grief from overdose death, grief connected to MAiD, and grief due to relationship changes.

Racial trauma and the experiences of systemic oppression have a significant impact on individuals and communities. Migration is a compounded factor, which can separate individuals from their natural processes, communities, culture, and identities. Grief is intertwined with racial trauma in unique ways that can impact healing and heighten experiences of racialized trauma.

The Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals is presenting Grief Literacy 101, an introductory workshop designed to provide a deeper understanding of grief and loss.
