Course Overview

One in five Canadians experiences a mental health problem in a given year.  This five-module, self-directed online course explores basic concepts of mental health and mental illness.  We look at the prevalence of mental health problems in Canada, the risk and protective factors that influence mental health, and the links between mental health and the social determinants of health.  We explore the importance of creating a safe space for clients and developing a positive therapeutic relationship.  We also describe the various treatments for mental h

STOP on the Net is a free, online smoking cessation program available to adults in Ontario interested in quitting tobacco cigarette smoking. Eligible participants can receive a free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) kit containing an 8-week supply of nicotine patches and choice of gum or lozenges mailed directly to their address!

This is a culturally-responsive space for members of the African, Caribbean, and Black community living with mental health and/or substance use challenges to talk, share, and support one another. We welcome and encourage folks from diverse backgrounds to join! This includes: youth, adults, seniors, persons with disabilities, diverse faith practices/beliefs, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
