Racial trauma has an impact on people's identity. A cognitive behavioural approach combining the social psychology of racism, psychological impact of discrimination and a systematic approach to rebuilding identity despite adversity will be outlined in this workshop..

Registration for Centering Black Youth Well-Being: A Certificate on Combatting Anti-Black Racism is now open.

This online certificate provides the Ontario youth sector with the foundational knowledge to cultivate practices, policies and alliances that challenge, disrupt and combat systematic anti-Black racism. The vision is that this certificate will support a structural transformation in Ontario’s youth sector that centers the wellbeing of Black young people and their families in our individual practices and organizational policies.

The Strength in Structure Project, through the Canadian Council for Youth Prosperity (CCYP) would like to invite Black led & Black serving organizations that are based in and around Ontario, Alberta and Nova Scotia to take part in a focus group!

The Strength in Structure Project, through the Canadian Council for Youth Prosperity (CCYP) would like to invite Black serving and Black led organizations that are based in and around Nova Scotia to take part in a focus group!

Time: Thursday September 16th, 2021 from 2pm to 4pm EST The focus group should last no longer than one and a half hours to two hours.

The Canadian Council for Youth Prosperity's Strength in Structure Project is looking for 30 youth (aged 15-29) who:

A one-hour, educational session that examines the mental health and well-being challenges Black Canadians face: Understanding and addressing anti-Black racism in all forms is an essential competency. However, in order for these efforts to be effective, there must be a foundational level of knowledge about what anti-Black racism is and the many factors that contribute to racialized outcomes.

Participants will:

“Lacking vital literacy skills holds a person back at every stage of their life. As a child they won't be able to succeed at school, as a young adult they will be locked out of the job market, and as a parent they won't be able to support their own child's learning. This intergenerational cycle makes social mobility and a fairer society more difficult.” (National Literacy Trust)
