Results of a UK study that asked participants to take a week-long break from social media improved individuals’ overall level of well-being, as well as reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety.
154 adults ( aged 18 to 72) who used social media every day were randomized to:
1. intervention group= asked to stop using all social media for one-week
2. control group= continue scrolling as normal
Even those in the intervention group had 21 mins of social media use
vs. 7 hours in the control group.
This study only looked at short term results but suggests even a small break can have an impact.
