Gambling, Gaming & Technology Use Community of Interest

The Gambling, Gaming & Technology Use Community of Interest brings together addiction and mental health service providers, researchers and subject matter experts in the fields of gambling, technology/Internet use and video gaming to collaborate and share knowledge on emerging trends and clinical best practices.

I chose the video below because it clearly talks about how social media and our phones are feeding our dopamine fixes. This is what makes us continually look at our phones.

I was also very interested in how he said the algorithms of social media are very smart in the way they keep us wanting to look at social media. This is almost an uphill battle. We may want to stop and look away however our brain and body are telling us "No we like it keep watching", the creators behind these apps are actually paid to make the apps more desirable to us so we want to keep watching them.

This is so fascinating to me that this can lead to an addiction.
