EAPO is excited to invite Karine Silverwoman to lead our upcoming workshop to explore what vicarious trauma is and how to develop meaningful self-care approaches, from a trauma-informed lens. She will discuss the intersections of trauma and oppressions, as well as body-centred tools to ground ourselves.
Participants will explore how our own lived experiences impact our work and how structural oppression intersects with trauma-informed practice.
Elder abuse is a substantial problem in Canada, affecting 8 – 10 per cent of older adults yearly. The abuse is not just physical. It also includes psychological, financial, and sexual abuse and neglect.

Domestic homicides are an extreme form of violence against women and children across the commonwealth. Many of these deaths appear predictable and preventable with hindsight. Some of this hindsight has come from various death review processes across Canada, the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand that have developed in the past decade. These reviews by interdisciplinary committees shed light on what transpired and how to prevent the same outcome in similar circumstances in the future.
