9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline is a national helpline for anyone in Canada who is thinking about suicide, or who is worried about someone they know. Help is available by phone and by text, in English and French, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. 9-8-8 calls and texts are answered by trained responders at a network of local, provincial, territorial, and national crisis lines and helplines across the country. 9-8-8 is led and coordinated by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and funded by the Government of Canada.

The Centre for Innovation and Research in Aging (CIRA) is looking for research participants for their most recent research project, titled: Passive Aware for At-Home Informal Dementia Care. This project is funded by the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation. The goal of this project is to reduce feelings of stress and burden for caregivers and to enable individuals experiencing memory loss or dementia to more safely and comfortably live in their home and community.

We are seeking participants who meet the following criteria:

Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based counselling approach that seeks to enhance an individual's motivation for behavioural change. In terms of vaccine hesitancy, it seeks to understand an individual's perspective on vaccination and reasons for hesitancy. Motivational Interviewing is participant-centered, goal-oriented, and collaborative.

This presentation will focus on two conditions which are common in the elderly: depression and dementia, specifically Alzheimer’s dementia. During the presentation, audience members will learn about depression and Alzheimer’s, their symptoms, and their risk factors. In addition, the presentation will focus on the link between depression and dementia, particularly in late life.

The Regional Geriatric Program of Eastern Ontario  is excited to offer it's two-day core Geriatric Education Series online on October 24th and 25th via the Zoom Platform.
