Dear Colleagues,
In November 2020, Evidence Exchange Network (EENet) and Community Care information Management co-hosted a World Café-style event with more than 70 participants, focusing on the use of standardized tools.
Each participant took part in three facilitated, small-group, virtual breakout sessions focusing on their topic selections out of a total of nine topics. The breakout sessions allowed participants to learn from each other's experiences and hear more about how to use different tools to support client-centred care and quality improvement.
The covid-19 pandemic impacts all of our lives. For vulnerable populations that rely on mental health services, it is particularly difficult. Now more than ever, it’s important to understand and help address the needs of people you serve. However, assessing needs using OCAN is challenging given the restrictions required to reduce the spread of covid-19.

This presentation will explore using Quality Improvement with the Ontario Common Assessment of Need (OCAN) to improve services to people. We discuss the Quality Improvement approach of Experience Based Co-Design (EBCD) and share a recent experience of using it with the OCAN Network. Part of EBCD is Emotional Mapping which was used to determine drivers and offer a variety of ways to improve the use of OCAN data. We will also share how this is being done throughout the province.
You are invited to participate in the upcoming event, Using Standardized Tools to Improve Services: A knowledge exchange event for the mental health and addiction sectors, taking place on March 12, 2020 from 9am-4:30pm at the 519, in Toronto, Ontario.
