CAMH Patient and Family Learning Space: Sex, Gender, and Cannabis Use Events
This webinar will present an overview of cannabis, with a focus on sex and gender influences. During this webinar, participants will become more familiar with cannabis fundamentals, risks and potential harms, therapeutic uses, and cannabis use and mental health. There will be a focus on sex and gender related factors influencing the prevalence, patterns, and effects of cannabis use and cannabis use disorder. Our presenter will also briefly discuss cannabis research studies happening at CAMH and how to get involved.

The Centre for Excellence in Women's Health has launched a new Sex, Gender and Cannabis Hub. This hub aims to be Canada's resource for reliable and up-to-date information on sex and gender factors related to cannabis use.

As the Women’s Health Research Chair in Mental Health for the Faculty of Health at York University, Dr. Nazilla Khanlou says gender-based violence didn’t start with the pandemic, but the pandemic has made it worse.

There is an urgent need to address the devastating losses associated with the current drug-poisoning emergency in Canada. To that end, our presenters undertook a concept mapping study to obtain the perspectives of service users on key elements of effective safer supply programs. The Substance Use and Addictions Program webinar will present a model of safer supply informed by people who use drugs and include recommendations for programmatic and systemic changes.
