Clinicians have proven few pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatments effective for body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and eating disorders (ED). However, researchers are exploring new treatment options for those with EDs and BDD including psychedelic-assisted therapies. This systematic review collected and evaluated evidence related to the therapeutic impact psychedelics have on patients diagnosed with EDs and BDD.

This international conference is being planned by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in collaboration with the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) and the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC).

The goal of the conference is to bring policymakers, researchers, and clinicians together, in the interest of moving psychedelics research forward into both policy and practice.

Panelists discussed their viewpoints on ensuring psychedelic therapies are safe for everyone who could benefit from them, including issues related to regulation, standards of training, and cultural competence.

Ensuring safety for all in psychedelic medicine will be hosted by EENet at 1:00 PM Eastern Time on Thursday, October 28th.

Our panel of experts will be discussing their viewpoints on ensuring psychedelic therapies are safe for everyone who could benefit from them, including issues related to regulation, standards of training, and cultural competence.

You are invited to join tomorrow's (Wednesday's) Live FAQ session from 9 to 11 AM on the Ontario Common Assessment of Need (OCAN), the standardized assessment tool used in the community mental health sector.

During this time, OCAN experts will provide written responses to stakeholder questions using CAMH’s EENET Connect online space.

Psychedelics such as psilocybin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and Ketamine have long been excluded from mental therapeutic treatments due to stigmatization and lack of understanding. In recent years however, researchers and scientists have begun to unearth new discoveries and research in relation to the effectiveness of these substances in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.
