Join us for a full day of training on the art of interviewing. Current research tells us that building relationships is the pathway to increasing our capacity to assess suicide risk. This training examines risk assessment from both at the client and a public health perspective. Therapeutic engagement, risk assessment, safety planning, identification and responding with appropriate interventions for risk reduction are addressed in this one-day session. This training shares the most current research as well as best practices for suicide risk assessment.

Fostering Mental Wellness: 9:30am-12:30pm

You have a basic understanding of mental health from your professional or personal experiences. Now you want to learn how to take a strengths-based approach to cultivating a mentally healthy environment where you live, volunteer, work or play.

ASIST is a two-day, interactive skills-building workshop that prepares caregivers of all kinds to provide suicide first aid interventions. Professionals, volunteers and informal helpers all need to know how to help persons with thoughts of suicide in ways that increase their suicide safety.

ASIST is designed to help all caregivers become more willing, ready and able to help persons at risk.

As an ASIST-trained first aid intervention caregiver, you will be better able to:
