Cognitive behavioural therapy is the first line treatment for PTSD. It is important to clearly define PTSD before proceeding with any treatment. This presentation will overview the theory and background of PTSD including all evidence-based treatments. International data on PTSD will also be presented.
First responders are repeatedly exposed to distressing situations of morbidity and mortality on the job, which can have devastating effects on well-being – emotional, psychological, and physical. Particularly in situations where moral and ethical values and beliefs are challenged, first responders may be subject to not only PTSD, but also moral distress and injury that contribute to long-term (and often hidden) suffering. In this webinar, Dr. Katy Kamkar will explore the mental health impacts of moral injury, and discuss the ways in which resilience pathways can be built.

Good morning,
I am looking for best practices and/or processes cities and/or communities have used to identify locations for supervised consumptions services (SCS)? We have identified a general location through our needs assessment and feasibility study, but are looking at lessons learned or other processes others have used to support the identification of specific locations in their communities.
Thank you,
Stephanie Bale

Many of the individuals we work with on a daily basis have experienced significant trauma in their lives and the impact can touch all aspects of their life. However, during this pandemic, we are seeing a rise in mental health issues across the broader public and experts predict that for many, this will be a traumatic event.
SafeGuards is continuing to provide a 5 week training online training on Trauma-informed Practice to help build the capacity of organizations and practitioners.
