Families and individuals caring for those who are transitioning from youth to adult health care may face many new challenges. In partnership with Ontario Health, this webinar will inform caregivers on the importance of coordinated transitions and resources that can help support them and their care recipients during this experience. You will hear from three caregivers who have cared for young people with different health conditions and needs and who have experienced the transition from youth to adult health care services first hand.
Presented by SickKids CCMH Learning Institute
This seminar is suitable for health care workers and students interested in learning more about DBT. The first 30 minutes of this talk will provide an overview of the therapy. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can impact family caregivers facing chronic strain as well as those exposed to life-threatening events. It is important to learn the signs of caregiver PTSD, so you can take immediate action to prevent things from becoming worse. If you suffer from symptoms like nightmares, feeling depleted of energy and joy in life, being excessively on the lookout for danger or find it difficult to provide care, you may be experiencing PTSD.
