At 12:30 p.m. EST today Health Canada provided an update on the legalization and regulation of cannabis in Canada. The new legislation will make it legal to purchase edible cannabis, cannabis extracts and cannabis topicals for consumption this fall.

This morning that podcast was released, and even though I know the story intimately, I am still learning from my son. I listened again today, and felt so proud for his willingness to share. Webinar: Canada’s Lower-Risk Cannabis Use Guidelines: New Tools for Professionals Events

Join a webinar on the Lower-Risk Cannabis Use Guidelines (LRCUG), presented by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).

The guidelines include 10 recommendations on reducing risks associated with cannabis use, based on the best available scientific evidence. PHAC and CAMH have teamed up to develop a new set of tools to support professionals to promote the use of the guidelines. These include a slide deck, FAQs, poster and evidence summary.

Up to one-third of pregnant women do not believe cannabis is harmful to their fetus, according to a new review of American studies by UBC researchers.

In some cases, women perceived a lack of communication from their health care providers about the risks of cannabis as an indication that the drug is safe to use during pregnancy.
