Endorsements Open and Encouraged: Supervised Consumption Services Forum topic

Overwhelming demand - a nice problem to have - has led the Drug Strategy Network of Ontario in collaboration with Canadian Drug Policy Coalition and so many others to re-open the opportunity to endorse the letter urging provincial action.  Timmins and Sudbury are among existing sites winding down this week.  Other communities have been stalled at the provincial level for years. Deaths and injuries are guaranteed in the absence of movement from the province.  Guaranteed- that's not hyperbole in the least.

International Overdose Awareness Day Events

Between January to December of last year, there were roughly 20 opioid toxicity related deaths per day. That is 7238 deaths in a year. The Youth Opioids Awareness Program is hosting a free awareness session for youth aged 15 to 24 on August 31 from 2-4 pm that involves a case study challenge as well as a question-and-answer session. If you or someone you know is interested in increasing your awareness on the opioids crisis and what you can do to help, this session is for you.

Solutions to End the Drug Poisoning Crisis in Ontario: Choosing a New Direction Forum topic

At a special Drug Strategy Network of Ontario (DSNO) meeting on April 20, 2022, members endorsed four policy solutions to reduce drug poisoning deaths and injuries in Ontario. Implementing these policies will significantly reduce the harms, including death, experienced by people who consume unregulated drugs.
