This workshop will provide participants with an experiential and reflective opportunity to learn to support clients who hear voices, or experience other types of alternate realities (visual, tactile, etc. hallucinations) using a client centred, recovery-based theoretical framework. Alternate realities will be explored and defined.

There is no one way of seeing and experiencing reality. Reality is experienced on a continuum. Those who experience the extreme end of the continuum are often misunderstood, feared and shunned in Western Culture. How it has been responded to has changed and transformed over time. It has been seen as a curse, illness, divine gift, demonic possession, etc. Currently it is seen from a medical model point of view- Psychosis. We will discuss how it has been understood throughout history and in various cultures.

We are welcoming all youth (ages 14 to 27) to take advantage of this FREE 8-week Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program.
This is a Canadian Red Cross-sponsored initiative to help youth learn one of the best techniques to reduce stress and anxiety and gain the resilience to deal with any of the stressors of daily life.
The 8-week MBSR program will involve 1.5 hours of weekly lecture and meditation practice in a virtual setting.
