What is it like to be a sibling of someone with a serious mental illness? The perspective of a brother or sister changes over time as we age and mature. This session aims to present what this might look and feel like.
Are you a caregiver providing support to someone living with mental health challenges? Join IAM Mental Health for our 4 session family education group.
Our program covers challenges facing families, handling stress and anxiety, practical strategies around communication, and coping with daily living including; scheduling daily activities, motivation, wellness and crisis planning, and caregiver well-being.
Our program also addresses coping with changes in daily living and stresses associated with COVID19.

Wendy will discuss the restorative treatment program, challenges and successes, strength based and trauma informed practices that support the young women in their recovery.
This course takes health care providers through the steps of screening, assessing and addressing impacts of cannabis use on patients and community. A brief overview of medical cannabis use is included.
Learners will encounter four fictional patients and consider the treatment approaches appropriate for each.

Ontario is expanding community-based mental health and addictions services for youth and young adults, so hospital emergency departments are not the only option for someone in crisis.
Haliburton Youth Wellness Hub is the new hub for people between the ages of 12 and 25 to get easy access to walk-in services such as mental health, addictions and crisis support, counselling, primary care and social supports related to employment, income and housing.
New research has found that despite the potential health risks of exceeding national drinking guidelines, many women aged 50 to 69 who consume alcohol at high risk levels tend to perceive their drinking as normal and acceptable, so long as they appear respectable and in control.
