A free University of Windsor counselling program, 'Caring for our Caregivers' is expanding their reach to the general public in Windsor-Essex for COVID-related concerns.

What does patient engagement look like in a time of COVID-19 from a patient, family or caregiver perspective and from an organizational and healthcare leader perspective? Participants on this webinar will discuss ways organizations have maintained their engagement and partnership activities and, in many cases, strengthened and accelerated their efforts. Participants will also share expectations and priorities for patients, families and caregivers.

How have organizations pivoted to support non-COVID-19 patients and families? Participants in this webinar will discuss changes in system navigation, such as shifting to virtual care, and how that might affect patients, families and caregivers. We will explore how many changes are being co-developed with patient partners and communicated with their support. We will also talk about support needed to access care, from a patient perspective, and potential solutions and contingencies to address challenges faced.

The team at FIREFLY, a multi-service organization in Northern Ontario, put their creativity to work in creating ongoing connections to families and caregivers during COVID-19 via a free, two-day conference!

MAKE THE CONNECTION (MTC) programs put attachment theory into nine fun and purposeful sessions. Caregivers learn what babies need to form secure attachments, practice with their baby/toddler and reflect on their parenting role.  

MTC 0-1 and MTC 1-2 Workshop Details

The experience associated with personality disorders can involve intense emotional and behavioural challenges for both the individual and caregivers. In this 1-day interactive workshop, participants will develop increased awareness and understanding about personality disorders, learn to identify key traits, and explore strategies to help support individuals. 

The Change Foundation and OHA will be co-hosting a webinar for those who want to learn more about this research on family presence and open visiting policies, and how Caregiver ID initiatives can play an important role in a family presence culture.

You will also hear from a healthcare provider who led the implementation in a hospital. She will share lessons learned and helpful reflections on how to integrate a Caregiver ID initiative with the introduction of a family presence policy.
