Menopause is a Mental Health and Addictions Concern Forum topic

It is encouraging to see a team at Ontario Health dedicated now to developing care standards for it.  What is still lagging is our awareness of menopause as a factor in both mental health and addiction.  Research is growing in this area.  Below are a few recent journal articles.

Depression is well known for diminishing hope and obscuring preferred identity stories for persons of all ages. Narrative therapy is a collaborative and non-pathologizing approach to counselling and community work which centers people as the experts of their own lives. A narrative approach views the problem of depression as separate from the person and assumes people have many skills, abilities, values, commitments, beliefs and competencies.
